Soomin news

We can’t believe how fast 2013 has flown by! It is almost 2014, and the last few months, we have been busy at Soomin designing our new 2014 collection, which will be available on our website and in our stores really soon. The new collection called ‘Hello Moon Pony’ was a collection that I had the most fun designing so far! I let my inner child free – using inspiration from different anime, cartoons and characters I love. (More on …

2013 has already shown itself to be a pretty exciting year for Soomin, with our new ‘Dance Kaleidoscope’ collection getting some amazing press, and being picked up by some really great new stores! One of the most exciting news was our ‘Jenny’ neckpiece featured on Demi Lovato on the cover of Company Magazine UK! Being our first ever cover feature, we were pretty ecstatic and, of course, Demi looked gorgeous! Check out some of the other amazing press we’ve been …

We have a huge backlog of posts for you all and an abundance of Soomin News! Just in the past 4 months since I last posted, a lot has happened for Soomin. We have updated our website, and that included giving our little blog a gorgeous facelift too! This was part of the reason for the delay in posts, so we do apologise and appreciate your patience during that time. If you follow Soomin on Facebook, (if you don’t, we …

Recap

My last blog post was almost a year ago and I am very ashamed at how much I have neglected my little blog. Since arriving in London over a year ago a lot has happened – I’ve designed 3 collections, done 2 trade shows, moved apartments, seen snow for only the 3rd time in my life, and eaten a lot of meat and potatoes. Soomin has grown slowly but surely and we have exciting projects lined up for 2012 for …

Bernie

Say hello to Bernie

She arrived on a Friday at about 11:30am. From the moment I woke up, I was so excited and got the room ready for her. I cleared some space, moved our side table away and sat in anticipation for her arrival. She was fashionably late – as some good looking girls tend to be – and I got a bit antsy. But, finally, I heard her coming down the stairs. My husband ran out to help her, and we placed …

Hello London

After months of anticipation, we are finally in London. After leaving Sydney, we went to Penang, Malaysia to visit/meet my husband’s relatives. It was a week of eating a lot of delicious food, meeting relatives, and exploring Penang, which is a fabulous and interesting place. With a mix of British architectural influences and traditional Malaysian culture, it is a feast for the eyes. Heading over from Penang to London was a bit of a shock to the body (from humid …

A magical photo shoot

All it needed was an amazing photographer, a fantastic stylist, a fabulous makeup artist, and of course, a stunning model.*   It started out a hectic day – Unfortunately, I couldn’t be present for the photo shoot, so I was running around before work to drop off some Soomin products at Moth Studios in Sydney for the shoot. Sweating like a pig, I met a gorgeous girl in the lift. Straight away, I knew she was the model. But what …

Bags, Scarves and things I love…

So, my site has launched and now it’s down to business. What can you expect from Soomin? Beautiful bags and scarves of course, but more than that, through the blog, I want you to get to know me. The designer behind the brand. I want to share my bags and scarves with you, but I also want you to know what inspires a designer – what makes us tick? And most importantly, I want to get to know you and …

MASTER LOGO

Just the start…

Starting a fashion label – something lots of girls and boys dream of doing. For me, this has been about 10 years in the making. Since my parents first opened a clothing store when I was about 15 years old, I nursed a dream to one day start my own business. Studying fashion at university, I nurtured that dream and eventually developed an idea to create a business based around something I loved doing – embroidery. I know I know, …
